Spiral,
a trusted disability support provider that has been part of the Sunshine Coast
community since 1981, is inviting the community to experience the creativity
and talent of local artists at its upcoming art exhibition, Celebrating the Artists of Spiral.

Running
from 7 to 26 September
2026 at the Old
Ambulance Station, 80 Howard Street, Nambour, the exhibition
will showcase the artistic works of Spiral participants, providing a platform
for artists with disability to share their unique perspectives, stories and
creative voices.

The exhibition reflects Spiral’s long-standing commitment to empowering people with
disabilities through choice, self-determination, skill development and
community participation.

For more than four decades, Spiral has supported people with disabilities and their
families across the Sunshine Coast. As an experienced NDIS provider, the
organisation works alongside participants to co-create personalised support
that fosters independence, confidence and meaningful community connections.

“At Spiral, we believe every person has a story to tell and talents to share,”
a Spiral spokesperson said.

“This exhibition celebrates the creativity of our participants while highlighting the
importance of inclusive communities where everyone feels valued, connected and
empowered to pursue their goals.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a diverse collection of artworks created
through Spiral’s creative programs, which encourage self-expression, skill
development and social connection. The exhibition highlights the impact that
accessible creative opportunities can have on building confidence, fostering
belonging and strengthening community participation.

In addition to the exhibition, visitors can enjoy a range of special activities
throughout the month, including artists-in-residence,
school holiday workshops and a special children’s author event featuring Chris
Collin.

choice for people with disabilities through innovative skill-building programs,
stronger social connections and advocacy for communities where everyone can

This year’s Buderim Garden Festival celebrates 80 years of community gardening

Buderim’s premier spring celebration will return on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October 2026, with the Buderim Garden Festival marking the 80th anniversary of the Buderim Garden Club.

Established in 1946, the Buderim Garden Club has spent eight decades encouraging horticulture, creativity and community connection across the region, and is the longest-running garden festival in the region. The 2026 festival will celebrate this milestone with a weekend program of spring flower displays, floral art, garden photography, open gardens, plant markets and local arts.

Centred around the Buderim War Memorial Hall at the corner of Main and Church Streets, the festival is expected to attract gardeners and visitors from across Queensland.

Buderim Garden Club President and Festival Coordinator John Lyon said the anniversary was an opportunity to recognise the club’s longstanding contribution to the local community.

“Eighty years is a wonderful milestone for the Buderim Garden Club,” Mr Lyon said.

“Our festival brings together gardeners, artists, volunteers and visitors in a celebration of spring. It showcases the remarkable gardens and creative talent of Buderim while continuing the club’s tradition of sharing knowledge, friendship and a love of gardening.”

A major feature of the weekend will be the competitive Spring Flower, Floral Art and Photographic Shows at the Buderim War Memorial Hall. Entries will include cut flowers, floral arrangements, potted plants, foliage, hanging baskets and garden photography.

Visitors can also browse the Quality Plant Market, with plants and garden novelties including bromeliads, gerberas, orchids, staghorns, ferns, subtropical plants, roses, geraniums, cottage garden plants, begonias, cacti and succulents.

Five exclusive Buderim Open Gardens will provide visitors with the opportunity to explore a range of garden styles, sizes and planting approaches. The gardens will be open from 9am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors may use their own transport, while a free small-bus service will operate from the hall on Saturday to help guests travel between the gardens without traffic and parking concerns.

The adjacent Craft Cottage will host The Sculptured Garden, featuring work by local artists, potters and sculptors. The exhibition will include sculptures, unique planters, outdoor wall art, and functional and decorative pottery. Next door, St Mark’s Church will also have a floral display.

The festival will also offer refreshments, including coffee, cakes and a sausage sizzle, with the nearby Buderim Village Green, cafés and parklands providing places for visitors to relax and enjoy the village atmosphere.

On Sunday, the Buderim Garden Club will be holding the Presentation of Trophies at 12.30pm, followed by the draw of the Festival’s Monster Raffle before the conclusion of the event at 2pm.

• Quality Plant Market: Adjacent to the hall, Saturday 8am–4pm and Sunday 8am–2pm.

• Free garden bus: Operating from the hall on Saturday only.
• The Sculptured Garden: Craft Cottage, adjacent to the hall.
• Refreshments: Coffee, cakes and a sausage sizzle available during the festival.
• Buderim Garden Club Presentation of Trophies: Sunday at 12.30pm, followed by the Monster Raffle draw before the conclusion of the event at 2pm.

An inclusive weekend festival ticket costs $20 and provides access to the Open Gardens, Spring Flower Show, Floral Art displays, Garden Photography exhibition and Plant Market. Entry to the indoor Spring Flower, Floral Art and Photographic displays is $3 per person or $5 for a family.

Games Sunshine Coast LevelUp Workshops are practical workshops designed to help local game developers build skills, sharpen their projects, and take the next step in their creative practice. LevelUp brings together experienced developers and industry professionals for hands-on sessions giving Sunshine Coast developers practical knowledge they can apply directly to their own development process.

Sunshine Coast Screen Awards at The Wharf Mooloolaba 6:00pm-10:00pm

Come together with the Sunshine Coast screen collective for an evening celebrating excellence across film, televisions, games and digital media. The Sunshine Coast Screen Awards shine a light on the talent, creativity and achievements of our region’s filmmakers, creators and industry professionals.

Sunday 25th October

Showdown Shorts at Event Cinemas Kawana 12:00pm-3:00pm

Our annual short film showcase is back, championing emerging filmmakers, students and independent storytellers. See the next generation of screen talent as finalists from across the Sunny Coast and Oceania share their work on the big screen, followed by the 2026 Showdown Shorts Awards presentation.

The exhibition showcases fascinating, handmade jewellery and metal art. 

The work is as varied as the silversmiths who make it – from original modern classics to rustic, recycled
pieces.

Materials used include silver, gold, brass, copper, resin, stones and gems.
