Consider this: a quality full length presentation of Shakespearian work, beautiful period costumes, a stunning amphitheatre on the shore of a lake embedded within a botanical garden. Not an adaption, not a simplified script but Shakespeare in all its glory, truthfully performed for astounded audiences by some of Australia’s best teen shakespearian actors.
Since the first edition in 2017 almost 5000 audience members have enjoyed this event. With numbers of almost 1000 per season in recent years; even more are expected for Romeo and Juliet. We are unaware of any youth theatre in Australia doing similar work, it is surely something the Sunshine Coast should be proud of and entertained by.
Where: The Amphitheatre, Noosa Botanic Gardens, Lake MacDonald, Cooroy
When: 2pm May 16, 17, 23, 24

THE TWO TENORS BRING THE BEST OF JOSH GROBAN TO THE SUNSHINE COAST IN SPECIAL LIVE FILM EVENT
Following a string of successful performances across South East Queensland, The Two Tenors — featuring former The Ten Tenors member Roger Davy and award-winning musical theatre performer Matthew Leigh — will bring their acclaimed new production The Best of Josh Groban to The Presynct in Nambour for a spectacular live concert event on Thursday 4 June.
Joined by special guest soprano Gabrielle Diaz from Opera Queensland and The 7 Sopranos, the performance will also be professionally filmed and shared internationally as part of the show’s ongoing promotional campaign.
Audiences will be treated to soaring vocals, breathtaking harmonies and emotionally charged performances of Josh Groban’s most beloved songs including You Raise Me Up, To Where You Are, The
Prayer, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Anthem, What I Did for Love and Time to Say Goodbye, alongside a selection of Broadway favourites and contemporary crossover classics.
“This show is really about connection,” said Roger Davy. “The audience is right there with us and because the night is being filmed, the energy in the room becomes part of the performance itself. It’s more than just a concert — it is a shared experience.”
Known for
blending classical technique with contemporary storytelling, The Two Tenors
create a concert atmosphere that is both intimate and spectacular. Powerful
solo performances, dynamic duets and thrilling three-part harmonies combine to
create a live music experience that resonates across generations.
Presented by Vavachi Entertainment in association with Elite Talent Agency, this special one-night-only event offers audiences the rare opportunity to experience world-class voices up close — and be able to say, “I was there.”

Event Details
The Sunshine Coast Disability Expo is returning to the region, bringing together a diverse range of disability providers, supports, and community services under one roof. This event is designed to make navigating disability support easier, clearer, and more accessible for individuals, families, and carers across Logan.
At the Disability Events Community (DEC), our mission is to fill the knowledge gaps that many regional and outer-metro communities face. Too often, people miss out on essential supports simply because they don’t know what’s available, where to start, or who to talk to.
This expo tackles that problem head-on by bringing the information directly to the people who need it most.
Why this event matters to the Sunshine Coast community
- Many locals struggle to understand the disability support system or access appropriate services
- Families and carers often feel isolated or unsure of their options
- Providers in the region want to connect more deeply with community members
- The expo creates a space for face-to-face conversations, real answers, and practical guidance
With service providers spanning allied health, support coordination, assistive technology, community programs, early childhood supports, mental health, transport, and more, the event is built to deliver clarity, connection, and confidence for attendees.
About DEC
The Disability Events Community is not a provider, we are an independent events organisation. This means our expos remain neutral, community-focused, and free from competing service interests.
Our aim is simple: ensure every person, regardless of where they live, has access to clear, trustworthy disability information.

Showdown Showcase – A Celebration of Local Short Film
Join us for Showdown Showcase, a curated big-screen event celebrating the bold, original storytelling emerging from the Sunshine Coast.
Across two dynamic 45-minute screening sessions, experience standout short films created by local writers, directors, cast and crew. The programme features highlights from three seasons of Sunny Coast Showdown, alongside selections from our inaugural Showdown Shorts initiative, including the Open Category and Audience Choice winner The Last Man Standing and runner-up Not in the Mood. The lineup also includes two moving selections from the 2025 Pacific Islands Film Festival, the Screen Cadet film Alexander’s Band, and Loophole, developed through our Crew Intensive Initiative. Together, the programme spans narrative, documentary and genre filmmaking, showcasing the depth of talent emerging from our region.
Whether you are discovering these films for the first time or revisiting audience favourites, this is your chance to see local stories as they were meant to be experienced, on the big screen, with a live audience.
More than a screening, Showdown Showcase is an investment in the future of our industry. All proceeds directly support local students participating in our upcoming Screen Cadetships in April and July, helping create clear pathways into professional screen careers.
Celebrate local storytelling. Support emerging talent. Fill the cinema with community. Be part of it.
Merchandise: Limited edition posters and merchandise are available with your ticket. Collection at the event (if purchased before 26 May) or via arranged pickup/shipping.

The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show is a cherished annual event that brings together the region’s rich farming heritage, vibrant community spirit and love for all things rural. Since 1900, the show has been a platform for showcasing local agriculture, produce, arts, crafts and entertainment, growing into one of the Sunshine Coast’s most anticipated traditions.
With livestock exhibitions, equestrian events, fresh produce displays, and hands-on agricultural experiences, the show highlights the importance of primary industries in the region. The Maleny Singers return with Patience, Gilbert and Sullivan’s brilliantly witty operetta skewering love, trends, and all things “fashionable.” Expect swooning poets, confused soldiers, and one very sensible milkmaid caught in the middle.
With sparkling music, sharp humour and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, this is light opera at its best—directed by Margaret Taylor, who once performed Patience with the English National Opera.
Catch it at the Maleny Community Centre, June 13, 14, 20 and 21.
Tickets via TryBooking or the Maleny Information Centre.

Cinderella returns after 34 years
A pantomime first written and directed in a small New Zealand village in 1992 is being brought back to life on the Sunshine Coast, with two local residents at the heart of the revival.
Pat Atkinson, 86, has returned to the director’s chair for Cinderella, a traditional pantomime she originally wrote and directed 34 years ago.
This time the production will be staged by the Caloundra Chorale and Theatre Company during the June-July school holidays.
For Pat, the production is not only a return to a much-loved script, but also a family affair.
Her husband Tom, now 88, played one of the Ugly Sisters in the original 1992 production and will once again tread the boards as the oldest member of the chorus.
“In 1992 I wrote and directed Cinderella the pantomime in Kumeu, a little village north-west of Auckland,” Pat said. “Now 34 years later I am doing the same pantomime for the Caloundra Chorale and Theatre Company in their gorgeous little theatre in Wurtulla.
“Tom, my husband, now nearly 89 played one of the Ugly Sisters, and is taking to the stage again as the Town Cryer and member of the chorus in this production.”
Pat said she is “having the time of my life” working with co-director Paula Stephenson, a cast of 12 experienced principals and 15 adults and children in the ensemble.
The production will be presented in the true Victorian tradition, with two dames played by men, a female Cinderella and Dandini, and music hall and early 20th century songs.
Cinderella will be staged at 7.30pm on June 26 and July 3, 2pm on June 27 and
July 4, and 10am and 2.30pm on June 28 and July 5.
• Tickets are $35 adults, $32 concession, $30 groups/members/FOC and $20
children 15 years and under. Bookings are essential via www.trybooking.com/DKTUD or phone
0490 329 912.
